About Us

Protein Bioinformatics lab was established at the Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Madras in December 2010. The main focus of our lab is to understand the sequence-structure-function relationship of proteins using the techniques in bioinformatics, biophysics and computational biology. We are working on various research projects on protein structure, folding, stability, interactions and aggregation. In addition, we are addressing issues related to disease-causing mutations in membrane proteins, next generation sequence analysis, deep learning in life sciences, proteome-wide annotations and structure-based drug design. We have also initiated experiments to validate some of our analyses. Specific research interests are listed below:

  • Developing databases and tools to analyse binding affinity of protein-protein complexes as well as the integrative analysis of stabilizing and binding residues in protein complexes (Curr. Opin. Struct. Biol., 2016; Bioinformatics, 2017; Int. J. Biol. Macromol., 2017)
