I would like to convey my gratitude for the privilege of being involved with the Student Ethics and Constitution Commission (SECC) of the IIT Madras that immensely contributes towards upholding our Institution's principles and nurturing a sense of unity among all the students. I am genuinely appreciative for its services as a steadfast pillar of responsibility, fairness, and rendering justice.

SECC has exerted noteworthy efforts ensuring faithful application of our Students' Constitution, providing a structured platform for addressing conflicts, and expressing concerns. Through its transparent and systematic approach, SECC has seamlessly integrated into the Institute’s student governance as desired.

The history of SECC exemplifies its unwavering commitment to equity, due process, and ethical governance. The dedication of all the past and present teams to shape its mission of inculcating a thorough sense about the rights and responsibilities within the entire student community of the Institute is commendable. My congratulations to all the teams for their invaluable roles in cultivating a democratic and responsible atmosphere within the Institute. And, I am completely convinced that it will continue its enabling efforts with its motto of Bonum Commune Communitatis to reach even greater heights in the coming days.

SECC has tirelessly worked to ensure the enforcement of IIT Madras’ Students' Constitution, providing a structured platform for conflict resolution and grievance redressal. With its transparent and procedural approach, SECC has become an indispensable component of our student governance system.
The history of SECC reflects its commitment to fairness, due process, and ethical governance. Through the dedication of the past and the current team, SECC's vision of educating students about their rights and responsibilities continues to evolve with the aim of making them politically informed citizens of tomorrow.

IIT Madras is committed to enable its students excel in academic pursuits while they are also nurtured to become responsible citizens by providing them opportunities to explore their freedom of expression and thought, for greater societal good.

The Students Ethics and Constitution Commission (SECC) is a key student body set up with an aim to complete the Students Government branches at IIT Madras. SECC plays a pivotal role in ensuring that IIT Madras Students constitution is enforced on ground and provides channels for students to resolve conflicts in matters under purview of the Constitution, in a procedural manner. It equips them to formally frame and argue issues of their merits, and to seek enforceable orders.

SECC plays an important role in ensuring fairness and impartiality, protecting fundamental rights, oversee legislation while maintaining a harmonious environment where the common good of the students committee is saved, guarded, and nurtured. With its penchant intent for transparency, SECC allows students to have confidence in its justice delivery system.

The successful execution of Block Chain Technology in its general elections 2023 by SECC, marked a historic implementation of India’s first ever block chain-based elections at IITM campus in March 2023 committed to fair and fraud resistant voting and setting a new standard for electoral procedures on Campus. This has show-cased IITMs dedication to leveraging cutting edge technology for betterment of democratic practices. It gives me immense pleasure to introduce SECC and its activities to the visitors of this new website of SECC. I would take this opportunity to wish SECC continued success in all its activities in enriching students’ life at IIT Madras Campus.
